About Robert David
Robert David Beyer earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and International Relations from the University of Southern California in 1979. He followed that with a J.D. from the University of Miami School of Law, completed in 1982. Those years set the course for a long career in courtroom practice and bar activity.
He has been admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and holds admissions to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, and the U.S. Supreme Court. Membership in professional organizations has been a constant. He belongs to the Pennsylvania Bar Association and the Lancaster Bar Association, both since 1982, and has been part of the Pennsylvania Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers since 1992. He joined the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers in 1995.
Beyer’s career spans decades of criminal defense work. He built experience handling state and federal matters, appearing in trial courts and in some instances in higher federal forums. He has managed cases ranging from pretrial motions to jury trials and post-conviction proceedings. Colleagues describe him as steady at the lectern and methodical in the courtroom. Clients have sought him out for complex procedural issues and for contested hearings that require close attention to evidentiary and constitutional questions.
Outside trial days, he has been active in bar life. Long-standing membership in local and statewide bar groups has included participation in committee meetings and continuing legal education events. That involvement kept him connected to developments in criminal law, evidence rules, and procedural practice. It also gave him a network of courtroom practitioners across Pennsylvania and in federal districts where he appears.
His work shows an emphasis on defending individuals at every stage of criminal proceedings. He has handled appeals and federal filings as part of case strategies on behalf of clients. He prepares filings for both trial courts and appellate review, and he regularly argues motions in federal district courts when cases move into those arenas.
As of 2026, he remains an active member of the Pennsylvania bar and continues to represent clients in state and federal criminal matters. He currently handles criminal defense cases in Pennsylvania courts, including proceedings in federal district courts and matters that reach the U.S. Supreme Court through admission to that bar.
