About Matthew J

Matthew J Landis built a steady path into the law. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Susquehanna University in 2007 and received his Juris Doctor from Widener University Commonwealth Law School in 2010. The classroom shaped his approach to legal analysis. Practical skills came later, in courtrooms and client meetings.

Early in his career he moved quickly from learner to advocate. After law school he entered private practice and developed courtroom experience that has carried through his work in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey. He is admitted to practice in both states and routinely handles matters that require familiarity with their procedures and local rules.

Colleagues describe Landis as methodical. He breaks problems down and traces the facts back to the governing law. That approach underpins his day-to-day work: preparing pleadings, managing discovery, drafting motions and advising clients on strategy. He spends time in depositions and in conferences where the details matter. He is comfortable in written advocacy and in the give-and-take of negotiations.

His career has included both trial and pretrial work. He has worked on cases that required careful factual investigation and on matters that turned on legal interpretation. Those experiences sharpened his ability to tailor responses to shifting circumstances. He handles litigation tasks and client counseling with the same practical eye.

At Russell, Krafft & Gruber LLP he is part of a team that handles a range of civil matters. He contributes to case preparation and participates in hearings in state courts across Pennsylvania and New Jersey. His role involves coordinating with co-counsel, consulting expert witnesses when needed and maintaining case files from intake through resolution.

Outside court deadlines and client meetings, Landis keeps current on developments in state law that affect his cases. He reads recent opinions and reviews procedural updates to ensure filings meet local requirements. That attention to detail is a regular part of his practice.

He approaches each matter with the same practical mindset: establish the facts, test the law, and present clear options to the client. Today he practices at Russell, Krafft & Gruber LLP, where he represents clients in matters heard in Pennsylvania and New Jersey and focuses on litigation and trial preparation.
