About Robert C
Robert C Thurston completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan, earning a B.A. in economics and German in 1984. He went on to graduate from The Ohio State University College of Law, receiving his J.D. in 1987. Those academic years combined a mix of international language study and economic analysis with legal training, a background that informs the work he does in court and at the drafting table.
He is admitted to practice in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Illinois, and he is also admitted to the Third and Ninth U.S. Circuit Courts of Appeal. Those credentials allow him to handle matters that range from state-court proceedings to appellate work in two different federal circuits. The record of admissions points to a practice that spans geographic and procedural boundaries.
Thurston founded Thurston Law Offices in 2005 and has served there as owner and lawyer since then. He built the firm to provide counsel across a mix of courtroom and appellate matters. Over the years he has managed case files, prepared briefs and appeared in hearings and arguments. Running a small firm has required him to combine case work with the administrative tasks of practice management.
Colleagues and clients describe his approach as methodical. He tends to prepare detailed briefs and to focus on the record when taking matters to appeal. His early training in economics and language study has informed how he frames issues and explains complex points to judges and clients alike. The combination of trial-level practice and appellate admission means he often moves cases from initial filings through to written briefs and oral argument when required.
Today he continues to practice through Thurston Law Offices. He handles litigation in both state and federal courts and pursues appeals in the circuits where he is admitted. His current practice focuses on civil litigation and appellate matters.
