About Robert C.
Robert C. Gigstad began his path toward law with an undergraduate degree in political science from Kansas State University, earned in 2003. He then attended Washburn University School of Law, where he received his J.D. in 2007. Those years shaped his courtroom instincts and grounded him in the procedural basics required of trial practice.
After law school he established his practice in Kansas. In 2010 he formed Gigstad Law Office LLC and has served as its lawyer and owner since then. He is admitted to practice in Kansas and has maintained an active presence in state legal circles. Over the years he has balanced client work with steady involvement in professional organizations that relate to criminal defense and impaired driving law.
He holds a DWI Detection and Standardized Field Sobriety Testing certification through the NHTSA program under Gary Lowe. That credential is a technical one and speaks to training in the specific tests and procedures used by law enforcement in impaired driving stops. He also maintains memberships that reflect his subject-matter interests: the National College for DUI Defense (member since 2012), the Kansas Bar Association (since 2010), the Kansas Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (since 2010), and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (since 2010).
Clients and colleagues describe him as practical and direct. He tends to present the legal options plainly and to emphasize the facts that matter in court. The combination of classroom training, certification in field sobriety testing, and years running a solo practice informs how he evaluates cases and prepares for hearings. He handles initial appearances, pretrial motions, and contested matters, drawing on the procedural knowledge he developed early in his career.
Gigstad’s work is local in its scope. He takes cases in Kansas courts and spends much of his time on matters common to criminal defense practice in the region. He has kept up with continuing legal education tied to DUI and criminal defense and remains active in bar and defense organizations that offer those programs. He currently focuses his practice on criminal defense and DWI cases.
