About Rick
Rick Mayer completed his undergraduate studies at St. John’s University in 2017, earning a B.A. in Government and Politics. He stayed at St. John’s for law school and received his J.D. in 2020. Those years framed his entry into legal work and shaped the practical and academic foundation he brings to practice.
After law school he joined LaxNeville as an associate. The role placed him in a firm environment where he has taken on research, drafting and client-facing responsibilities. Colleagues describe him as methodical in preparation and attentive to the details that often matter in filings and negotiations. He has worked on matters that require careful statutory and regulatory reading, and he has taken part in courtroom preparation and hearings under the supervision of senior lawyers.
Mayer is licensed to practice in New York. He maintains current memberships in professional organizations. Those affiliations give him access to continuing education and professional networks that are regularly used to stay informed about developments in state law and procedure.
In daily practice he spends time on legal research, drafting motions and memoranda, and counseling clients through procedural steps. He collaborates with partners and other associates at LaxNeville on case strategy and client communications. The firm environment has allowed him to work on matters at different stages, from intake through preparation for trial or resolution, offering a practical view of how cases evolve.
Outside of casework, Mayer’s background in government and politics informs how he reads statutory frameworks and administrative materials. His academic training and early professional experience combine to produce an approach that is organized and process-oriented. He continues to build experience at LaxNeville, where his practice is concentrated on matters arising under New York law.
