About Jeffrey

Jeffrey Linehan began his legal path in upstate New York and carried it into a career that moves between prosecution, public ethics work and private practice. He earned a B.S. from Syracuse University in 2005 and completed his law degree at New York Law School, receiving a J.D. in 2010. Those formative years set a rhythm of courtroom work and regulatory inquiry that shows in his resume.

Fresh out of law school, Linehan joined the New York County District Attorney's Office as an Assistant District Lawyer in 2010. He spent those early years in the trenches of criminal prosecution. The job provided steady exposure to trial work, charging decisions and the day-to-day management of cases at the county level. It also placed him in a network of criminal practitioners and judges across Manhattan.

After moving into state-level work, Linehan served as an Assistant Lawyer General in 2019 at the Office of the New York State Lawyer General. The title reflects work inside a large, litigation-driven agency where lawyers handle complex statutory questions and represent state interests in court. He later took on a role as Investigative Counsel in 2021 with the New York State Joint Commission on Public Ethics. That post involved formal inquiries into public conduct and the mechanics of ethics investigations, adding administrative and investigatory experience to his background.

Linehan is admitted to practice in New York and to the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York. He retains memberships in the State Bar of New York, the New York State Bar Association, the New York City Bar Association and the New York Criminal Bar Association. Those affiliations reflect an active engagement with professional peers across both criminal law and broader state bar activities.

In 2022 he founded The Linehan Law Office, PLLC. As the firm's owner he shifted from government roles into private practice. His practice draws on years of courtroom experience and the investigative knowledge he developed at the ethics commission. He represents clients in matters that intersect criminal law, government investigations and regulatory issues. He also advises individuals and organizations confronted with inquiries from public agencies.

Linehan’s career traces a steady move from county prosecution to state-level representation, then into ethics work and private practice. He continues to lead The Linehan Law Office, PLLC and represents clients in criminal and regulatory matters while advising on investigations and public integrity issues.
