About Rachel D.

Rachel D. Allen built her academic foundation at Iowa State University, where she earned a B.A. in Political Science and International Studies in 2003. She stayed engaged with public policy and legal questions during college and went on to law school at Pennsylvania State University’s Dickinson School of Law, receiving her J.D. in 2010.

While still in law school, Allen served as a certified legal intern at the Penn State Family Law Clinic in 2009. That hands-on clinic work put her in courtrooms and in client meetings early. After graduation she served as a judicial law clerk in 2010 to the Honorable Robert B. Coonin and the Honorable Arlene Minus Coppadge of the Family Court of the State of Delaware, where she handled research, drafted orders and observed the daily management of family law dockets.

Following her clerkship Allen joined Nitsche & Fredricks LLC. At the firm she has continued to practice in areas that touch family court work. Her background in the clinic and on the bench informs how she approaches procedural issues and client strategy. She is admitted to practice in Delaware and maintains active memberships in state professional groups.

Allen has been a member of the Delaware State Bar Association since 2011 and belongs to the Delaware Trial Lawyers Association, a membership she has held since 2017. She uses those connections to stay current on changes in court rules and state practice trends. Colleagues say she brings attention to procedural detail and a steady presence at hearings.

Her courtroom experience includes time both observing and advocating in family court settings. She draws on her clerkship experience when preparing court submissions and when advising clients about likely steps in litigation. She also works on negotiation and settlement discussions, balancing litigation posture with opportunities to resolve matters outside a hearing when appropriate.

Allen’s work is practical and case-driven. She breaks issues down for clients and outlines options in plain terms. The practice at Nitsche & Fredricks gives her a base for litigation and client counseling in Delaware family courts. She focuses her current practice on family law matters.
