About R. Ethan
R. Ethan Zubic built his legal foundation at Loyola University New Orleans College of Law, where he earned his J.D. in 2012. He arrived at law school after completing an MBA at Millsaps College in 2008 and a B.S. in economics from Millsaps in 2007. At Loyola he served as Substance & Citation Managing Editor of the Loyola Law Review and led fellow students as president of the Maritime Law Society.
After law school, Zubic entered private practice. In 2012 he joined Montgomery Barnett LLP as a lawyer. That early role placed him in a firm environment tied to commercial and maritime matters common to Louisiana practice. He has maintained ties to the state’s legal community and to professional organizations that reflect his interest in admiralty and maritime law.
Zubic is active in a range of bar and industry groups. He holds membership in the Louisiana State Bar Association and the New Orleans Bar Association. He is also a member of national and specialty organizations, including the Federal Bar Association, the Maritime Law Association, and the Southeastern Admiralty Law Institute. Outside purely legal groups he participates in the Propeller Club of New Orleans, a maritime industry organization that brings together legal, commercial and port interests.
Colleagues describe his path as one shaped by maritime law education and sustained participation in subject-matter organizations. His law review work speaks to attention to legal detail and citation practice. His leadership in the Maritime Law Society during law school points to an early concentration on shipping and admiralty topics. Those elements have informed the types of matters he has pursued in practice.
Today Zubic practices in Louisiana. He represents clients on matters that frequently arise where commercial shipping, admiralty rules and local maritime commerce intersect. His work spans disputes, regulatory questions and transactional issues tied to vessels and maritime operations.
He continues to live and work in Louisiana and to participate in both legal and maritime professional circles. His current practice focuses on maritime and admiralty matters in Louisiana courts and federal forums.
