About Nick S.
Nick S. Wise is a Louisiana-trained litigator who combines courtroom experience with practice-room strategy. He completed his undergraduate degree at Louisiana State University in 2006 and earned his Juris Doctor from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at LSU in 2011. His academic record placed him squarely in the state’s legal community early on.
He began building his practice in Louisiana courts and federal forums. Over time he took on roles of increasing responsibility and now serves as Senior Counsel at Kean Miller LLP. In that capacity he has handled matters that require both litigation discipline and an understanding of industry regulation. Colleagues describe his approach as pragmatic: identify the legal issue, map the consequences, and move the case toward a practical resolution.
His work has included defense-side litigation and regulatory matters. He has been active in matters tied to energy and environmental law, an area he led inside his firm. From 2019 to 2021 he chaired the Environmental and Energy Law Practice Group, coordinating resources and strategy across practice teams. Earlier, from 2016 to 2019, he participated in the Young Lawyers Committee, where he engaged on professional development and bar activities for newer attorneys.
Membership in statewide professional organizations has been steady. He is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association and the Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel. Those affiliations have kept him connected to changes in state law and to networks of trial and appellate lawyers in Louisiana.
His admissions reflect a practice that spans state and federal venues. He is admitted to the bar of Louisiana and is authorized to appear in the U.S. District Courts for the Western, Eastern, and Middle Districts of Louisiana. He also holds admission to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court, enabling him to pursue matters at multiple appellate levels when necessary.
Clients and peers see him as a lawyer who balances litigation skill with an understanding of regulatory contexts affecting energy and environmental disputes. He continues to handle civil litigation and regulatory matters, concentrating on environmental and energy law, civil defense, and appellate work in state and federal courts.
He practices from Kean Miller LLP and maintains an active role in matters before Louisiana and federal courts. His current practice focuses on environmental and energy law, civil defense litigation, and appellate advocacy.
