About Paul William
Paul William Nguyen earned his law degree from Pacific Coast University School of Law, receiving his J.D. in 2013. He also completed the National Institute of Trial Advocacy's Trial Advocacy Program, a credential that underlines his courtroom training. Those early years set the pattern for a career spent largely on the plaintiffs' side of personal injury law.
Nguyen moved quickly into practice after law school. In 2013 he joined Shield Litigation, LLP and took on the role of managing lawyer. At Shield Litigation he has overseen casework and litigation strategy in automobile collision matters. His work involves routine court appearances, drafting pleadings, negotiating settlements and preparing cases for trial.
He is admitted to practice in California and has authority to appear before the Ninth Circuit. That combination allows him to handle cases that progress through state courts and, when necessary, on appeal in the federal system that covers the western states. His membership in the Los Angeles County Bar Association and the Orange County Bar Association connects him to local legal networks and continuing education resources.
Nguyen's courtroom preparation reflects his training at NITA. The Trial Advocacy Program emphasizes direct and cross-examination, witness preparation and persuasive oral argument. He applies those techniques to the practical tasks of depositions and trial work. Colleagues describe him as methodical in preparing evidence and attentive to witness testimony; opposing counsel have encountered him in contested hearings and settlement negotiations.
Much of Nguyen's caseload has been centered on motor vehicle collisions. He handles the typical mix of negligence claims: rear-end collisions, intersection accidents, multi-vehicle pileups and cases involving serious bodily injury. His role as managing lawyer has added administrative responsibilities. He supervises junior attorneys and coordinates with investigators, medical experts and accident reconstruction specialists when the facts demand technical support.
Nguyen maintains offices in Santa Ana and Garden Grove. From those locations he manages client intake and litigation for people injured in car accidents across the region. He continues to represent plaintiffs in personal injury cases and to prepare matters for trial and appeal as needed.
