About Nancy
Nancy Price earned a Bachelor of Science in International Affairs from Missouri State University in 1990 and completed her Juris Doctor at the University of Kansas School of Law in 1993. Those years set the pattern for a career that moved quickly from classroom to courtroom. The academic record shows preparation for work in federal practice and public defense.
After law school, Price joined the Federal Defender's Office for the Western District of Missouri as an Assistant Federal Defender in 1993. She spent years in public defense, representing clients in federal proceedings and handling the array of motions, hearings and trials that public defenders encounter. Colleagues from that period recall a steady presence inside the office and frequent work on complex federal litigation.
Her involvement in the defender community extended beyond casework. Price served as president of the National Association of Federal Defenders from 2001 through 2003. That post placed her among leaders who exchanged views on practice standards, defender resources and the broader challenges facing federal public defense at the time.
In 2006 she moved into private practice and established Nancy Price Law, P.C. The transition shifted her daily work from an institutional defender role to running her own solo practice. She is admitted to practice in Missouri and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, credentials that have allowed her to carry matters from district court through appellate review when necessary. Over time her caseload has reflected a mix of trial and appellate work tied to federal matters.
Price manages a small office that handles litigation and court appearances. Her background in the Federal Defender's Office and her years of practice inform how she approaches filings, client contact and courtroom strategy. She has taken on cases that require attention at both the district and appellate level and has navigated procedural and substantive challenges that arise in federal practice.
Those who speak about her work describe someone who moved from public service into private practice while retaining the procedural knowledge and habits developed as a federal defender. Today she operates the Nancy Price Law Office and continues to take cases that require experience in federal court and appellate advocacy. Her current practice focuses on federal defense and appellate work.
