About Mr. Eric L.
Mr. Eric L. Nesbitt trained in finance before he turned to law. He earned a B.S. in Finance from the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign in 1987 and completed both an MBA in Finance and a J.D. at UCLA in 1991. Those dual graduate degrees inform how he approaches deals and documents, combining financial analysis with legal detail.
His career put him at the intersection of law and real estate. He is the founder and principal of Eric L. Nesbitt, P.C., where he serves as lawyer and practice head. He is licensed to practice in Illinois and Colorado. He also holds a real estate broker’s license in the State of Colorado, a credential that complements his work on transactional matters.
Colleagues and clients often encounter him through professional organizations. He is a past president of the Denver Metropolitan Commercial Association of Realtors and remains active there. Since 2017 he has served on the Board of Directors for Colorado Bar Association CLE. He has been a member of the Colorado Bar Association’s Real Estate Law Section since 2012 and has belonged to the Sam Cary Bar Association since 2006.
Over the years his practice has concentrated on commercial real estate matters. He handles sales and purchases, lease drafting and negotiation, and the contractual work that precedes a closing. His background in finance shows up in due diligence and in structuring deals that address both legal and economic risks. He also advises brokers on transactional issues in Colorado, relying on his broker’s license to understand the industry side of a transaction.
People who work with him describe a pragmatic approach. He favors clear drafting and practical solutions. He spends time on the documents that make a deal transferable and on the title and contract issues that often determine whether a transaction succeeds or stalls.
He maintains an office under the name Law Offices of Eric L. Nesbitt, P.C., from which he handles client matters and consults on commercial real estate and brokerage issues. His current practice concentrates on commercial real estate transactions, leasing and brokerage matters.
