About Mr. Derek J.
Mr. Derek J. Connor earned his Juris Doctor from the University of New Mexico in 2007. He completed his legal education at a time when regional practice and federal questions often intersected in the Southwest. That training set the stage for a practice that would span state lines.
He became involved with The Federalist Society in 2007 and remains a member. The affiliation has been part of his professional life since his graduation. Five years after completing law school, he took a step many lawyers take only after several seasons of practice: he started his own firm.
In 2012 he founded Connor & Connor PLLC and serves as its manager. The firm carries his name and his approach to running a small practice. As founder and manager he handles both the business side and the legal work. He has overseen the firm through changes in the legal market and helped keep it operational across jurisdictions.
Mr. Connor is licensed to practice in New Mexico and Nevada. That dual licensure shapes the kinds of matters he accepts and how he staffs cases. Practicing in two states requires attention to differing procedural rules and local court customs. It also means coordinating filings, court dates, and client communications across state lines.
Those who work with him can expect a lawyer who combines courtroom awareness with office management. His firm represents clients from initial intake through resolution. Mr. Connor balances the demands of being a managing lawyer with handling client matters himself. He also maintains professional connections through his long-standing membership in The Federalist Society.
Today he continues to lead Connor & Connor PLLC. The firm’s work serves clients in both New Mexico and Nevada, and he remains active in managing day-to-day operations while handling cases. He currently practices at Connor & Connor PLLC, handling legal matters across New Mexico and Nevada.
