About Trent L.
Trent L. Richards built a dual academic foundation before he began practicing law. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Westminster College in 2001, then returned to the University of Nevada, Las Vegas to complete an MBA in 2008. He finished his legal studies at UNLV William S. Boyd School of Law, receiving his J.D. in 2008.
Those degrees shaped the early arc of his career. After completing law school he moved into practice in the Mountain West and over time took on matters that intersected with business operations and commercial concerns. He holds licenses to practice in both Utah and Nevada, which has allowed him to work across state lines on corporate and civil matters.
In 2018 he launched Sagebrush Lawyers. He serves as the firm’s founder and lawyer. The decision to form a boutique practice followed years of experience working on transactions and disputes that involved owners, managers and their companies. He set out to build a practice that could handle both business planning and courtroom work when necessary.
Colleagues and clients describe Richards as pragmatic. He tends to break complex problems into clear steps. That approach reflects his business training as much as his law training. He places emphasis on practical solutions, negotiating where settlement makes sense and litigating when a firm position is required.
Richards maintains membership in professional associations and participates in the legal community in the region. He has worked on matters that require coordination across jurisdictions, relying on his admissions in Utah and Nevada to serve clients whose operations span the two states.
His educational background — a business undergraduate degree followed by an MBA and a J.D. — informs how he evaluates client matters.
