About Michael Romeo

Michael Romeo Tamou is an Arizona attorney who built a practice rooted in criminal defense. He earned his Juris Doctor from Washburn University School of Law in 2019, where he focused his studies on criminal law. That academic training laid the groundwork for his work inside courtrooms and in client interviews.

Tamou began his post-law school career in public defense. In 2021 he served as a trial lawyer at a Public Defender’s Office. The role put him on trial dockets, where he handled arraignments, pretrial hearings and jury trials. That period shaped his approach to case preparation and courtroom strategy. It also exposed him to a broad cross-section of misdemeanor and felony matters.

After two years of public defense experience, he launched Tamou Law Group PLLC in 2023. He opened the firm to provide criminal defense services under his own name. As the owner he handles litigation and client counseling, manages case intake and oversees the firm’s daily operations. Running a small firm has required him to balance client work with the administrative responsibilities that come with ownership.

Colleagues and clients describe him as someone who prepares thoroughly and does not rely on shortcuts. He tends to emphasize factual investigation and witness work in building defenses. In the courtroom he pursues motions and sees trial as a venue for testing the strengths and weaknesses of a case. Those habits trace back to his time as a trial lawyer and the routines he developed in public defense work.

Tamou maintains professional membership in the Arizona Bar Association and is active in the state legal community. He attends continuing legal education and participates in matters related to criminal practice. Outside the courtroom he spends time refining litigation documents and meeting with clients to set realistic expectations for case outcomes.

He presents himself plainly in client meetings and aims for direct communication about charges, exposure and possible resolutions. He also handles negotiation when plea discussions make sense for a client’s circumstances. Today he practices at Tamou Law Group PLLC in Arizona, where his work centers on criminal defense matters.
