About Michael Kiel

Michael Kiel Kaiser built his legal foundation at the University of Pennsylvania, where he completed undergraduate studies in communication, and at the University of Arkansas School of Law, where he earned his law degree. He entered practice equipped to handle courtroom work and appeals. His path has been steady and concentrated on public defense and criminal litigation.

Kaiser began his legal career in the public sector. In 2015 he served as a deputy public defender in Pulaski County. That role put him in court regularly. He handled arraignments, motions hearings and trials. The work demanded quick judgment and steady courtroom presence. It also exposed him to a wide range of criminal matters and the mechanics of trial advocacy.

After his time at the public defender’s office, Kaiser moved into private practice. In 2016 he joined the James Law Office as an associate. There he continued trial work while adding case preparation and client counseling that private practice requires. In 2019 he took a position at Lassiter & Cassinelli. At that firm he has worked on criminal defense matters across different stages of litigation, and he has been involved in appellate filings in federal and state courts.

Kaiser is admitted to practice in Arkansas and in the federal courts that serve the region. His admissions include the Eighth Circuit and the United States Supreme Court, reflecting a practice that spans trial and appellate work. He is an active member of several professional organizations. He has been part of the Pulaski County Bar Association since 2016 and belongs to both the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Arkansas Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.

Colleagues describe him as thorough in case preparation and direct in court. He balances attention to detail with a practical approach to litigation strategy. His experience in the public defender’s office informs how he prepares for trial and frames appeals. He handles client meetings, plea negotiations and courtroom advocacy, and he prepares appellate briefs when cases move beyond the trial level.

Kaiser continues to practice at Lassiter & Cassinelli, where his work spans criminal defense in trial courts and appellate advocacy in higher courts. His current practice concentrates on criminal defense and appellate litigation.
