About Michael
Michael Howard studied law at the University of Minnesota Law School, earning his J.D. in 2008. He also completed coursework in International Business Law at Cornell University that same year. Those two experiences gave him a mix of Midwestern legal training and exposure to international commercial issues early on.
He entered practice shortly after graduation. In 2009 he served as a summer associate at Ruder Ware LLSC, an experience that placed him in a busy regional firm environment. That year he also worked as a lawyer at Ravich Meyer Law Office, where he handled client matters that required close attention to procedure and strategy. The early years of his career involved day-to-day client work and courtroom exposure that helped sharpen practical skills.
Howard is admitted to practice in Minnesota and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. Those admissions mean he appears in both state court matters and federal appeals in the region. His record shows a lawyer who has navigated filings, brief writing and the calendar demands of both trial and appellate dockets.
Colleagues describe his approach as straightforward. He tends to break complex problems into discrete tasks. That makes it easier to identify what needs to be done first. In practice he has handled matters that required coordination with other counsel, preparation for hearings and careful drafting. The combination of a J.D. from Minnesota and study at Cornell informs the way he frames arguments, whether procedural or substantive.
Today he is an attorney at Pruvent PLLC. The firm affiliation places him in a small-firm setting where attorneys often manage a broad array of responsibilities. He continues to draw on the litigation experience from his early roles and the academic foundation from his time at Cornell and the University of Minnesota.
Howard’s career path reflects steady progression from law school to regional practice and into a private firm role. He has worked in both state and federal arenas and remains active in cases that require work before Minnesota courts and the Eighth Circuit. He currently practices at Pruvent PLLC, handling matters in Minnesota and in the Eighth Circuit.
