About Michael H.
Michael H. Brisson built his legal foundation in the Midwest and finished his formal training in New England. He earned a B.B.A. in Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 2002 and later received his J.D. from the University of New Hampshire School of Law in 2011. Those academic stops set the stage for a mix of clinic work, public service and courtroom practice.
As a law student he took on hands-on roles that exposed him to trial work and client representation. He served in the UNH School of Law’s Consumer/Commercial Law Clinic and participated in the school’s Appellate Defender Program in 2009. In 2010 he worked as a legal extern for the New Hampshire Department of Justice and completed a credit-earning externship at the Merrimack County Attorney’s Office. Those experiences gave him early courtroom exposure and practical skills in legal research and client interviews.
After law school Brisson moved into county-level prosecution and related public roles. He served as a special assistant county attorney in Merrimack County in 2012 and worked as a prosecutor in the Carroll County Attorney’s Office in 2013. Those positions required him to manage cases from charging through trial preparation and to coordinate with law enforcement and victim services.
He also spent time inside the judicial system, working at the Trial Court Information Center for the New Hampshire Judicial Branch in 2015. That role involved handling public inquiries and helping people navigate court procedures. In the same period he volunteered as a pro bono lawyer for the New Hampshire Domestic Violence Emergency (DOVE) Project, taking on cases that addressed urgent protective-order needs and other immediate legal relief for survivors.
Brisson entered private practice in 2017 when he joined Liberty Legal PLLC as an associate. At Liberty Legal he has handled a range of matters that draw on his prosecutorial background and his clinic experience. He continues to accept pro bono work through the DOVE Project, maintaining a connection to court-based advocacy and direct client representation.
Colleagues and clients describe him as practical and straightforward. He tends to favor clear explanations over legal jargon and aims to prepare cases thoroughly for court. He remains licensed in New Hampshire and practices at Liberty Legal PLLC, where his work currently emphasizes courtroom representation and case preparation.
