About Tom
Tom Colantuono has built a long career at the intersection of law, public service and teaching. He earned a B.A. in history and economics from Duke University in 1969 and a J.D. from Boston College Law School in 1973. Those credentials launched a professional life that has moved between government offices, private practice and the classroom.
Soon after law school he entered public service. In 1978 he served as an assistant in the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office and taught as an instructor at Nashua Community College. He opened a private practice in 1981 as the Law Office of Thomas P. Colantuono and later held a role in what is listed as the United States Lawyer’s Office in 2001. He has also worked in several law firms and associations, including a position recorded in 2019 with Ward Law Group, PLLC.
Colantuono’s career also includes elected office. He represented District 14 in the New Hampshire Senate from 1990 to 1996. During that period he chaired the Senate Ways and Means Committee and served on the Judiciary and Finance committees. He was Assistant Majority Leader from 1994 to 1996. From 1999 to 2001 he served on the New Hampshire Executive Council for District 4. His time in elected roles overlapped with advisory work at the state level through the early 2000s.
On several state advisory panels he worked on issues that ranged from white collar crime to border and immigration matters, and on a subcommittee concerned with terrorism and national security from 2001 through 2009. Those positions placed him in conversations about law enforcement, criminal conduct and regulatory response across state and federal lines. He has maintained active membership in the New Hampshire Bar Association since the mid-1970s and joined the New Hampshire Association for Justice in 2011.
Teaching has returned repeatedly to Colantuono’s résumé. He served as an adjunct professor at Rivier College in 2009 and at Southern New Hampshire University in 2010. He also appears listed as a Lawyer & Counselor at Law in the Bianco Professional Association in 2009, showing continued engagement with both legal practice and legal education.
Across four decades the thread through his work has been practical legal service in multiple settings — state government, elective office, private practice and classrooms. He currently practices at Ward Law Group, PLLC, handling litigation and matters that implicate both state and federal law.
