About Melisa D.

Melisa D. Ludeman completed her undergraduate studies at Truman State University, earning a B.A. in political science in 2002. She moved quickly into legal training, receiving her J.D. from the University of Missouri–Kansas City School of Law in 2003. Those early academic years placed her squarely in the Midwest legal community she continues to serve.

After law school she took a position at the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri in 2004, working as an assistant to the pro se law clerk. She spent that time handling intake and procedural questions from litigants without counsel, learning the practical constraints of federal court practice and how courts handle pro se filings.

Ludeman then shifted into roles that emphasized document review and case preparation. In 2006 she worked as a discovery analyst at Shook, Hardy & Bacon, and in 2009 she served in a similar capacity at Rouse Hendricks German May. Those positions involved managing large volumes of materials, organizing records for litigation, and supporting attorneys during the discovery phase. The work required attention to process and detail, and familiarity with the technical steps of modern discovery practice.

In 2008 she became the managing lawyer of Ludeman Law Office, LLC. She has been a member of the Jackson County Bar Association since that year. Ludeman is licensed to practice in both Missouri and Kansas, a cross-jurisdictional footing that allows her to handle matters spanning state lines in the region.

Her professional background combines courtroom procedure and discovery work. The early federal court experience informs how she approaches filings and procedural deadlines. The discovery roles gave her hands-on exposure to the mechanics of document review and the coordination needed in complex cases. Together, those experiences shape how she prepares matters for litigation and how she organizes a file from intake through trial preparation.

Colleagues and clients see a lawyer who prefers clear procedure to rhetoric and who emphasizes practical steps over broad promises. She has spent much of her career in and around Kansas City courts, moving between public court work and private practice roles. That mix of settings has left her comfortable in both judicial and client-facing environments.

Ludeman currently practices at Ludeman Law Office, LLC, where her work concentrates on civil litigation matters, discovery management, and procedural aspects of federal and state cases in Missouri and Kansas.
