About Megan B. Van
Megan B. Van Aken earned her J.D. from Albany Law School in 1999 after completing a B.A. at the University of Hartford in 1994. She trained through those formative years in New York’s legal environment and moved into practice shortly thereafter. Her academic background provided the basis for a career rooted in courtroom work and client representation.
Her early professional years included a position at Carter Conboy beginning in 2002. She spent several years there building experience as a courtroom lawyer and handling litigated matters. In 2008 she took a role at Burke Scolamiero Mortati Hurd, where she continued to develop her practice and expand her caseload. The next major step came in 2014, when she became a shareholder at McNamee Lochner P.C. That move placed her in a leadership role at a firm where she has remained active since.
Van Aken is admitted to practice in the state of New York and in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New York. Those admissions allow her to take cases that proceed in both state and federal court. She also maintains memberships in several professional organizations, including the New York State Bar Association, the Albany County Bar Association, the Capital District Women’s Bar Association and the New York State Trial Lawyers Association. Those affiliations connect her to peers across the region and provide outlets for continuing legal education and professional engagement.
Colleagues and clients describe her work as steady and practical. Her career shows a pattern of handling contested matters that require familiarity with procedural practice in both state and federal forums. Over time she has moved into positions that involve more responsibility for case strategy and client counseling, and that evolution is reflected in her shareholder role.
She practices out of McNamee Lochner P.C., where she assumed a shareholder title in 2014 and continues to serve. Her current practice involves litigation in New York state courts and in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New York.
