About Hon. Brian F.

Hon. Brian F. DeJoseph is an attorney whose academic background combines economics and law. He earned a B.A. in Economics from Syracuse University before returning to Syracuse University College of Law for his J.D. His training at both institutions informs his approach to complex legal questions, pairing analytical rigor with legal doctrine.

During law school he developed a grounding in the kinds of analysis that economists and lawyers share: careful use of data, attention to incentives, and clear argumentation. Those skills carried over into his legal career and remain part of his working method. He is known among colleagues for a measured, methodical style and an interest in issues that require both legal and financial understanding.

DeJoseph holds the title Hon., which appears in his professional listing. He now serves as Of Counsel at Bottar Law, PLLC. In that role he provides advice on matters that come before the firm, assists in case preparation, and consults on legal strategy. His position allows him to take on matters that benefit from a more senior, deliberative perspective while also mentoring associates and collaborating with partners.

Over the years he has handled a range of matters at the intersection of law and economic analysis. His background in economics helps when cases turn on valuation, damages, or statutory interpretation that involves market realities. He brings methodical legal research to those matters and offers written analysis to support client positions and court filings. Colleagues describe his contributions as steady and practical, aimed at resolving questions efficiently and clearly.

Outside of direct casework he remains engaged in the procedural and advisory aspects of practice. He participates in internal case assessments and contributes to client counseling sessions where complex facts require careful sorting. His voice is used when the firm seeks a reasoned second look at litigation strategy or transactional risks.

Today he is based at Bottar Law, PLLC and continues his Of Counsel work there. He practices in ways that draw on both his legal training and his undergraduate study in economics, applying both to the firm’s matters and to client counseling.
