About Maximilian Francis

Maximilian Francis Beier trained at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, earning his J.D. in 1999. He moved quickly from law school into roles that combined private practice and community service. That mix has defined much of his professional life.

Early in his career he became involved in neighborhood development and nonprofit work. From 1999 to 2005 he served on the South Side Local Development Corporation, taking part in local planning and redevelopment efforts. That work ran alongside his private practice and helped shape his approach to community-oriented legal work.

By 2000 he began serving as legal counsel to The Pittsburgh Irish Center, a role he continues to hold. Acting as counsel for a longstanding cultural and community institution has kept him engaged in the nonprofit sector for more than two decades. Those responsibilities sit alongside his private-client work at Beier Law, where he is a partner.

He is licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania and remains active in local and state bar organizations. He holds current memberships in the Allegheny County Bar Association and the Pennsylvania Bar Association. He also serves on the University of Pittsburgh School of Law Alumni Board, maintaining ties to the law school that trained him.

Beier has taken on roles beyond law practice that connect him to civic life in Pittsburgh. He is a Democratic Committeeman for the 7th Ward, a position that involves local party organization and community outreach. His civic commitments reflect a sustained interest in the city’s institutional life and policy debates.

Colleagues describe him as a lawyer who blends courtroom attention with a steady presence in community institutions. At Beier Law he is a partner and shares responsibility for managing client matters and the practice’s direction. The combination of nonprofit counsel work and private practice gives him regular contact with both organizational clients and individuals.

Over time his professional footprint has been as much about local engagement as it has been about casework. He keeps an active role in organizations that link legal services to community development, cultural institutions, and civic governance.

He continues to practice through Beier Law and to serve as counsel and adviser for nonprofit and community organizations in the Pittsburgh area. His current practice includes representation of clients at Beier Law and legal counsel for nonprofit and community organizations.
