About Dean R.

Dean R. Phillips built his academic foundation on history before turning to the law. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in History from Allegheny College in 2019 and received his Juris Doctor from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 2022. That mix of liberal arts and legal training shaped a methodical approach to research and argument.

After law school, Phillips entered practice in Pennsylvania. He is admitted in the Commonwealth and also authorized to appear in the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. Those admissions allow him to handle matters at the state level and in federal appellate proceedings. His courtroom activity spans trial dockets and appellate filings, reflecting the dual admission he holds.

Colleagues describe Phillips as pragmatic and meticulous in preparation. He applies historical perspective to legal questions, which can aid in crafting context for complex records and statutes. He is comfortable drafting briefs, preparing motions, and presenting arguments to judges. His background suggests a bent toward careful analysis rather than headline-grabbing tactics.

Phillips joined Morella & Associates, where he serves as a member of the firm's litigation team. At the firm he works on cases that require attention to procedural detail and substantive law. He collaborates with senior attorneys and litigators, contributing to briefing, discovery, and oral argument. The firm setting provides a platform for him to build experience across state and federal matters.

Outside the courtroom, Phillips keeps current on developments in appellate procedure and state law changes that affect litigation strategy. He has continued to refine practical skills gained in law school, such as legal writing and case synthesis. Those skills inform everyday tasks — from drafting pleadings to advising clients on next steps.

He has remained based in Pennsylvania while practicing in both state and federal venues. His training at Allegheny College and the University of Pittsburgh School of Law anchors his professional approach. He currently practices at Morella & Associates, representing clients in matters in Pennsylvania and in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.
