About Matthew S.
Matthew S. Brock built his legal foundation in Tennessee and California classrooms. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, finishing in 2005. He later took up legal studies at Thomas Jefferson School of Law and received his J.D. in 2012, where he studied international business law as part of his coursework.
He launched his own practice soon after law school. In 2013 he opened Matt Brock Law PLLC and began handling criminal defense matters. Four years later he joined a partnership. In 2017 he became managing partner at Best and Brock PLLC, where he practices today. He is admitted to practice in both Tennessee and Georgia.
Brock’s professional affiliations reflect a concentration in impaired-driving defense. He has been a member of the National College of DUI Defense since 2016. He joined the Tennessee Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Chattanooga Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers in 2014. Since 2014 he has also served on the board of the DUI Defense Lawyers Association.
He has pursued specialized training that supports courtroom work on impairment cases. His credentials include a forensic gas chromatography course from Axion Labs, and multiple certifications from Impaired Driving Specialists. Those courses cover drug recognition expertise, advanced roadside impairment detection, and instruction in standardized field sobriety testing and DWI detection. The training allows him to engage with technical evidence and challenge procedures at hearings and trials.
In practice he handles a range of criminal matters, but his docket shows a steady stream of DUI and DWI cases. He represents clients at pretrial hearings, suppression motions, and trials. He also deals with issues that often accompany impaired-driving charges, such as chemical testing disputes and administrative license matters. Colleagues and opposing counsel describe him as direct in court and detail-oriented in the preparation of technical defenses.
Brock maintains an active calendar in both state systems and adapts to procedural differences between jurisdictions. He continues to update his technical skills through courses and association work. He currently focuses his practice on defending people charged with DUI, DWI and related criminal matters in Tennessee and Georgia.
