About Phil

Phil Spitalny built his professional life around the law. He completed legal studies and entered practice prepared to handle client matters across a range of legal settings. Early training gave him the tools to analyze cases and draft the paperwork that drives many legal outcomes.

He spent the early years of his career gaining steady experience in the everyday work of a law practice. Those years involved courtroom appearances, client meetings, and negotiations. He learned how to balance the demands of litigation and transactional work, and how to explain complex legal issues in plain language to clients.

Over time his role evolved to include more responsibility for case strategy and client counseling. He took on matters that required careful risk assessment and an eye for practical solutions. Colleagues and clients depended on him for clear assessments of options, and for managing the procedural steps necessary to move a matter forward.

Today he is at Best & Brock, where he continues to handle a mix of matters for individuals and businesses. At the firm he contributes to both contested and noncontested work, participating in hearings, preparing filings, and advising clients about their next steps. His approach is methodical. He prioritizes clarity in written work and directness in oral advocacy.

Outside the immediate tasks of a given file, he pays attention to the broader process of advising clients through decisions that have legal consequences. He aims to set realistic expectations, identify practical risks, and outline options that can be implemented. He keeps current on changes that affect client matters and adjusts strategies when circumstances shift. His current practice focuses on delivering pragmatic legal counsel and resolving disputes for a diverse client base.
