About Matthew Roy
Matthew Roy Kessler built a legal career centered in Pennsylvania courts and local institutions. He began his formal education with a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Pennsylvania State University, University Park, in 1990. Fifteen years later he completed a Juris Doctor at Widener University Delaware School of Law in 2005.
His early professional record includes roles at the Pennsylvania Medical Professional Liability Catastrophe Loss Fund in 1998 and at O'Brien & Ryan, L.L.P. in 2000. Those positions preceded the launch of his own practice. In 2005 he established the Law Offices of Matthew R. Kessler, L.L.C., where he serves as principal.
Kessler holds admissions that allow him to operate in both state and federal forums. He has been admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania since 2000 and to the United States Supreme Court since 2005. He is licensed to practice in Pennsylvania and maintains memberships in several professional organizations, including the Pennsylvania Bar Association, the Pennsylvania State Bar, and the Berks County Bar Association.
Outside of courtroom and office work he has been active in community and civic causes. He joined the board of the Devlin Fund for Cancer Research in 2007 and continues to serve there. He has been a trustee at Hope United Methodist Church since 2010. Locally he helped found the Eastern Berks Business Alliance in 2006 and later served as its president.
Colleagues and clients describe him as steady and grounded. He manages his practice from a small office structure and handles filings and appearances in the courts where he is admitted. His combination of federal admissions and long-standing local ties gives him regular exposure to different facets of practice in the region.
Kessler’s career reflects long-term involvement in both legal and civic communities in Berks County and beyond. He currently operates the Law Offices of Matthew R. Kessler, L.L.C. and represents clients in state and federal matters in Pennsylvania.
