About Matthew
Matthew Madzelan earned his J.D. from Hofstra University in 2012. He completed his legal education during a period of rapid change in the courts and entered practice as the nation recovered from the economic downturn. That timing shaped the practical side of his training; he learned to manage heavy dockets and tight deadlines early on.
After law school he became a member of the State Bar of New York and gained admission to practice in New York state courts as well as the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York. Public listings show a current State Bar membership. In 2021 he is recorded as serving as a senior associate at The Bell Law Group, a position that placed him on teams handling contested matters in both state and federal venues.
Courtroom procedure and motion practice are recurring elements of his work. He appears in filings before trial courts and contributes to appellate preparations when cases move beyond the trial level. His role has required drafting pleadings, responding to discovery, and arguing procedural and substantive motions. Colleagues describe his approach as methodical; he tends to break complex problems into manageable tasks and to follow through on process.
Within firm settings he has worked alongside partners and other associates on matters that reach federal courts in New York. That experience includes practice before the Eastern and Southern Districts, where local rules and docket pressures demand close attention. His assignments have ranged from case intake and investigation to courtroom appearances, depending on the stage of each matter.
Today he practices at The Bell Law Group. He is active in New York state and in federal courts in the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York. His current work centers on litigation matters brought in those courts and on the procedural work that supports contested cases.
