About Matthew A.
Matthew A. Drewes earned his J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School in 1998 after completing a B.A. in Business, History and Philosophy at Concordia College–Moorhead in 1994. His academic path combined liberal arts and practical business coursework. That background has informed a legal career spanning more than two decades.
Drewes is admitted to practice in Minnesota and before the Eighth Circuit. Those credentials have provided a platform for both courtroom work and transactional matters. Over the years he has built professional ties across legal and real estate communities in the Twin Cities and beyond.
He has taken on leadership roles in professional organizations, notably within the Community Associations Institute – Minnesota Chapter. He joined CAI-MN’s board in 2013, served as president-elect in 2016 and was chapter president in 2017. That progression reflects sustained involvement in the governance and education efforts of the chapter.
Beyond CAI-MN, his memberships span a range of groups that touch law and real estate. He belongs to the National Association of Industrial and Office Professionals, the Hennepin County Bar Association, CIC Midwest (a division of the Minnesota Multi-Housing Association), the American Bar Association and the Minnesota State Bar Association. Many of those affiliations date back more than a decade and continue to the present.
Professionally, Drewes is associated with DeWitt LLP. He has occupied office space there and practices under the firm’s name. Colleagues and peers encounter him at industry and bar events, where he participates in panels and chapter activities.
His experience in community association circles and involvement with commercial real estate trade groups suggest the types of matters he commonly addresses. He handles legal work that intersects with homeowner and condominium associations, multi-housing interests and industrial or office development issues. He approaches those matters from a practical, institution-focused perspective.
Drewes combines years of organizational leadership with steady engagement in local legal institutions. He continues to practice at DeWitt LLP, working on issues linked to community associations and real estate.
