About Maria
Maria Zamayar entered the legal field after completing her law degree at American University Washington College of Law in 2019. She earned a Bachelor of Science from Georgia State University in 2015. Those academic years formed the foundation for a practice that has centered on courtroom procedure and appellate work since she began her career.
After law school Zamayar joined Livesay & Myers, P.C. as an associate in 2019. She moved into firm practice straight out of law school and has maintained that position. Her admissions include the Commonwealth of Virginia and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, which inform the geographic scope of the matters she handles.
At the firm, Zamayar’s work has combined research, brief writing and court appearances. She prepares pleadings and motions, drafts appellate briefs, and participates in hearings. Her day-to-day tasks involve case investigation, legal research, and advising clients on procedural steps. She also assists more senior attorneys in developing trial strategy and in preparing evidence and witness examinations for court.
Colleagues describe her work as grounded in detailed legal analysis and careful attention to deadlines. She spends significant time in motion practice and appellate filings, where clear writing and tight argumentation are essential. That orientation toward precise legal drafting and procedural clarity shapes how she approaches client matters and internal collaboration at the firm.
Outside of courtroom filings and briefs, Zamayar has participated in continuing legal education and firm-based training aimed at honing litigation technique. Her early years at the firm emphasized practical courtroom experience. That experience includes preparing for oral argument and working on multi-stage litigation that can move from state trial courts to federal appellate review.
Zamayar’s practice is situated in Virginia, and she appears in state court when cases require it. She also handles matters that reach the Fourth Circuit on appeal. She remains an associate at Livesay & Myers, P.C., where she concentrates on representation in Virginia courts and on appellate work before the Fourth Circuit.
