About G. Rex Flynn
G. Rex Flynn Jr. earned a B.A. in psychology from Hampton University before completing his J.D. at George Mason University School of Law in 2008. He moved into practice soon after finishing law school and gathered courtroom experience in the Mid-Atlantic region.
He began operating as a trial lawyer at The Flynn Law Office in 2011. Over the years he has maintained memberships in multiple state and local bars and legal organizations. His affiliations include the Virginia State Bar, the D.C. Bar and the Maryland State Bar, and he has engaged with local bar groups across Northern Virginia and the District.
Flynn’s involvement in the bar community is extensive. He joined the Arlington Bar Association in 2012 and has served on the Board of Directors for the Arlington County Bar Association since 2017. He is a member of the Northern Virginia Black Lawyers Association, the Alexandria Bar Association and the Fairfax County Bar Association. On the criminal defense side, he holds memberships in the Virginia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Maryland Criminal Defense Lawyers’ Association. Outside the legal associations he is also a member of Omega Psi Phi fraternity.
That mix of local and national memberships has informed his courtroom work. He has tried cases in state and federal venues and pursues contested matters rather than limiting work to plea negotiations or administrative advocacy. His practice emphasizes representation at trial and he handles pretrial preparation, evidentiary hearings and jury trials.
Clients and colleagues describe him as a courtroom lawyer who spends substantial time preparing witnesses and evidence for trial. He works in Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia, and his practice draws on familiarity with the procedural rules and court cultures in each jurisdiction. He keeps a steady calendar of hearings and trials and appears regularly before judges and juries in the region.
Flynn maintains an Arlington office for client meetings and also sees clients at a Fairfax office by appointment. He is active in bar governance and the criminal defense community and continues to build a practice focused on trial work across Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia.
