Mack J — Travers was a seasoned family law attorney based in Katy, Texas. Admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 1989, he also held a license to practice in Missouri. His commitment to the legal profession was evident through his active membership in both the State Bar of Texas and the Missouri Bar. Mack achieved the distinguished AV Preeminent peer review rating from Martindale-Hubbell, which is the highest rating awarded to attorneys for their legal ability and ethical standards. He passed away on March 14, 2025, at the age of 78, leaving behind a legacy of integrity and dedication. In 1995, Mack co-founded Travers & Travers in Katy, Texas, alongside his wife, Sherrie Haussner Travers.
The firm specialized in various family law matters, including divorce, child custody, and spousal support. This partnership not only showcased their professional synergy but also reflected their commitment to helping families navigate challenging legal situations. Their daughters, Allison Travers Hamilton and Annilee Travers Reed, later joined the practice as associate attorneys, further solidifying the family-run nature of the firm. Before embarking on his legal career, Mack served as a claims manager for USF&G Insurance Company. His transition into law saw him practicing insurance defense litigation at Dunn, Kacal, Adams, Pappas & Law.

His military background in the United States Air Force contributed significantly to his disciplined and ethical approach to law, instilling in him a strong sense of duty and responsibility toward his clients. He was a founding member of the Family Bar of Fort Bend, which aimed to support family law practitioners in the region. From 2006 to 2010, he served as a director for the Baker Road Municipal Utility District, where he contributed to local governance. His involvement with the Houston Bar Association included serving as chair of the Harris County Law Library Committee from 2006 to 2007, showcasing his dedication to improving legal resources for the community.
Mack earned his Juris Doctor from South Texas College of Law in 1989, following a Bachelor of Arts in Industrial Relations from Rockhurst University in 1972. He was also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of Texas. His legal acumen and community involvement left a lasting impact on those he served. Mack's legacy continues through Travers & Travers, which stands as evidence of his dedication to family law and his commitment to the community he cherished.
