About Lenton
Lenton Aikins is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in the State of California. He was admitted to the California State Bar in 1991. His license status is currently "Not Eligible to Practice Law" due to administrative noncompliance as of July 2, 2024. Mr. Aikins is the founder of Aikins Law Firm, located in Signal Hill, California, where he has served clients throughout Southern California.
Mr. Aikins earned his Juris Doctor degree from Western State College of Law. Prior to his legal education, he obtained a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Southern California. His undergraduate studies were completed at California State University, Los Angeles, where he earned both a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts in Political Science. This diverse educational background has equipped him with a comprehensive understanding of both legal and political systems.
Throughout his legal career, Mr. Aikins has focused on various practice areas, including employment law, real estate, personal injury, and police misconduct. He has represented clients in numerous cases involving workplace discrimination, wrongful termination, wage and hour disputes, and premises liability claims. His practice has encompassed all stages of litigation, including initial case evaluation, discovery, mediation, settlement negotiations, and trial proceedings in both state and federal courts.
Before establishing his own firm, Mr. Aikins served as an assistant professor at a California State University and as a dean at a community college. He also worked as a real estate broker and owned two real estate offices in Orange County. From 1991 to 2016, he litigated real estate and business issues, sued public and private entities for police misconduct, sexual harassment, and other discriminatory practices, and handled labor law violations. Some of his published cases established new law in the area of whistleblowing and exhaustion, including Williams v. Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles (2004) 121 Cal.App.4th 708; Gardenhire v. Los Angeles Housing Authority (2000) 85 Cal.App.236; and De Tie v. Orange County Sheriff Dept. (1998, 9th Cir.) 152 F.3d 1109.
Mr. Aikins is a lifetime member of the NAACP and the founder of the Academic Booster Movement in California. He served as the charter president of the first Academic Booster Club at Edison High School in Huntington Beach, California. He has also been involved in continuing legal education, presenting on topics such as implicit bias in employment law. Additionally, he is fluent in English and Spanish, allowing him to serve the diverse communities of Southern California effectively.
