About Lauren A
Lauren A Wimmer built a steady legal path through New Jersey and Pennsylvania courts. She returned to Rutgers-Camden for law school after undergraduate studies in psychology, earning her J.D. in 2011. Before that she studied at Boston University and completed a bachelor’s degree in psychology at Rutgers University–Camden in 2007.
Her early legal work mixed private practice and court-side experience. In 2013 she worked as a law clerk at Zarwin Baum, where she encountered criminal matters that would shape her career. The following year she served as a law clerk to the Honorable Rose Marie DeFino-Nastasi in the Court of Common Pleas, Trial Division — Criminal (Homicide). That clerkship put her inside serious felony dockets and offered sustained exposure to homicide trials and pretrial litigation.
In 2017 she opened Wimmer Criminal Defense and listed herself as lawyer and principal. Establishing a small practice allowed her to take on a range of criminal cases and to represent clients in both state systems where she maintains practice rights. She holds membership in the bar associations of both New Jersey and Pennsylvania, and those dual jurisdictions shape the firm’s caseload.
Wimmer’s professional affiliations extend into criminal defense circles. She has been active in the Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers of New Jersey and the Pennsylvania Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers since 2017. She also joined the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws in 2017, reflecting interest in evolving drug policy and its criminal-law consequences.
Her background combines trial exposure and defense-oriented practice. The clerkship experience offered close work on homicide dockets and courtroom procedure. Her private-practice years include handling preliminary hearings, arraignments, plea negotiations, and trials. She represents clients on a range of charges and navigates both state court processes.
Colleagues and clients describe her approach as direct and procedural; she prefers clear explanations over legalese. She keeps a steady presence in the courts of the two states where she holds membership and continues to maintain ties to professional defense organizations.
She currently practices criminal defense through Wimmer Criminal Defense and handles matters in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
