About Ryan J.
Ryan J. Levan built a legal foundation at the University of Pennsylvania, where he earned a B.S. in Political Science and Spanish in 2006. He went on to Columbia Law School and received his J.D. in 2012. Those academic years laid out a mix of public law and private practice training that shaped his early career choices.
After law school he moved into a judicial clerkship. In 2013 he served as a law clerk to The Honorable John R. Fisher at the D.C. Court of Appeals. The position gave him daily exposure to appellate briefing, opinion drafting and the deliberative processes of a court. The clerkship experience informed how he approaches legal writing and the evaluation of contested issues.
Levan entered private practice as an associate at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP in 2015. During his time there he handled the kinds of tasks common to large-firm practice: drafting pleadings and motions, supporting discovery and participating in client meetings and strategy sessions. The role provided broad litigation and case-management experience and a look at high-stakes matters handled by national counsel.
In 2022 he became a partner at Levan Legal. The record shows his title as partner beginning that year. He is admitted to practice in New York and in Pennsylvania, and those jurisdictions form the geographic reach of his work. His background includes both appellate work from his clerkship and the day-to-day demands of firm practice.
Columbia’s law program and his clerkship are recurring touchstones in how he frames legal questions. He tends to emphasize clear writing and methodical analysis when preparing arguments or advising clients. Colleagues describe his approach as practical and measured; he focuses on identifying the key legal points quickly and shaping a path through procedural and substantive hurdles.
Outside of those threads, public records note associations and office affiliations over time, and his career path has moved from clerkship to large-firm associate to partner. He remains active in practice, handling matters that arise in New York and Pennsylvania. He practices as a partner at Levan Legal, advising clients on legal matters in those jurisdictions.
