About Laura Golden

Laura Golden Liff began her academic journey at the College of William and Mary, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts. She went on to study law at The Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law and received her Juris Doctor. Those formative years established a foundation in legal research and writing and prepared her for practice in both state and federal courts.

After law school, Liff entered private practice and took a role as an associate at McCandlish & Lillard, P.C. She joined a firm that handles litigation and counseling across a range of matters. In that role she has worked on cases that required appearances in multiple jurisdictions. The position has given her steady courtroom exposure and an opportunity to develop practical skills in client representation and motion practice.

Liff is admitted to the bars of the District of Columbia and Virginia. She also holds admissions to federal courts, including the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Virginia. Those credentials allow her to pursue litigation at both trial and appellate levels. They also mean she routinely files federal pleadings and argues before judges in different districts.

Colleagues describe her as thorough in preparation and precise in drafting. Her colleagues note that she pays close attention to procedural details, an attribute that matters in contested proceedings. She has handled matters that required coordination across jurisdictions, from local hearings to federal filings. That breadth of venue experience informs how she approaches case strategy and client communication.

Outside the courtroom she maintains ties to the legal community. She keeps current on developments in federal and state procedure and integrates that knowledge into casework. Her work reflects an emphasis on steady advocacy rather than headline-grabbing litigation. Clients and peers alike see her as reliable in meeting deadlines and in presenting arguments in court.

As of 2026, Liff continues to practice as an associate at McCandlish & Lillard, P.C. and appears in both state and federal courts in Virginia and the District of Columbia, handling litigation and related proceedings.
