A Florida native, Laura earned her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Central Florida. Her career began in journalism as an award-winning news producer at WFTV in Orlando.
This role developed her skills in investigation and advocacy—qualities that later propelled her into the legal field. While attending St. Thomas University School of Law in Miami, she made significant contributions as a Certified Legal Intern for the U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Florida. During this time, she also clerked for the Florida Department of Transportation's trial division, gaining practical insights into the workings of the legal system. After graduating from law school, Laura gained invaluable trial experience as an Assistant State Attorney in Miami-Dade County.
There, she prosecuted a variety of cases, including those involving domestic violence, child abuse, and cold cases. Her role also extended to representing hospitals and families in Baker and Marchman Act proceedings, where she focused on issues of competency, guardianship, and patient rights. This foundational experience in criminal law laid the groundwork for her later work in civil litigation. Transitioning to civil litigation, Laura represented both foreign and domestic insurance companies in investigating personal and commercial insurance claims. Her work included tackling organized fraud cases and litigating insurance coverage disputes. She has a keen understanding of the challenges consumers face when their auto claims are improperly denied, making her a valuable advocate for clients navigating complex insurance issues.
Laura is admitted to practice law in Florida and maintains good standing with the Florida Bar. She is also admitted to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida.
