About Romaine
Romaine Brown began her academic path in law at St. Thomas University School of Law, earning her J.D. in 2002. She later returned to graduate studies and completed an M.P.H. at Western New England College in 2022. Those degrees shape a practice that sits at the intersection of legal process and human services.
Her early legal experience includes internships that exposed her to courtroom work and public defense. In 1995 she served as a legal intern to Judge Joel T. Lazarus, and in 1996 she worked as a legal intern at the Broward County Public Defender’s Office. She moved into research roles soon after, joining the Human Rights Institute as a legal research coordinator in 1999. Two years later she established her own firm, opening the Law Office of Romaine Brown, PA in 2003.
Brown is admitted to practice in Florida and is authorized to appear before the United States District Court for the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida. She joined The Florida Bar in 2003 and maintains active memberships in a number of professional organizations, including national and local bar associations and groups focused on family law and mediation. Her affiliations range from the American Bar Association and the National Bar Association to regional groups such as the Broward and Orange County bar associations. She also belongs to professional mediators’ organizations and family law networks.
Her credentials include certifications relevant to family and civil dispute resolution. She is a Certified Family and Civil Mediator in Florida, a Certified Parent Coordinator, and holds a certification as a Guardian Advocate from the Mental Health Association of Central Florida. Those qualifications underpin the services her office offers, particularly in cases where legal and health or social issues overlap.
Brown’s practice has long included family law and alternative dispute resolution. The firm’s work covers mediation, parenting coordination, and related civil matters that arise from domestic and family disputes. Cases often combine legal advocacy with processes designed to reduce court involvement. She draws on her public health training when cases present issues that touch on mental health or community services.
Over more than two decades she has balanced private practice management with service in professional organizations. Her career reflects steady engagement in family law, mediation, and policies affecting families and vulnerable adults. She currently operates the Law Office of Romaine Brown, PA, where she continues to handle family law, mediation, and related civil matters.
