About Laura

Laura Baldwin trained first as a psychologist and later turned to law. She earned a B.A. in psychology from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and completed her J.D. at DePaul University. The combination of social-science insight and legal training shapes how she approaches client matters.

She began practicing at STG Divorce Law in 2011. Early in her career she worked on a range of family law matters and developed practical courtroom and negotiation experience. Over time she took on increasingly complex divorce cases, handling contested matters and guiding people through settlement discussions.

Outside the office she has been active in local bar activities. She is a current member of the DuPage County Bar Association. Since 2016 she has served as president of the Chicago Legal Clinic Auxiliary Board, a volunteer leadership role that involves organizing fundraising and pro bono outreach to support clinic programs.

Colleagues describe Baldwin as methodical. She breaks down complex family-law issues into clear, manageable steps and focuses on the practical choices available to clients. That approach suits the often-emotional decisions that arise in divorce and custody disputes. Baldwin has handled matters that require both negotiation and litigation, and she prepares cases so they can proceed in either direction depending on what the client decides.

Her education informs how she works with clients. The psychology background helps in assessing family dynamics and in communicating difficult information. The legal training at DePaul provided the doctrinal and procedural foundation she uses in court and at the negotiating table.

Baldwin practices out of STG Divorce Law, where she is based at the firm’s main office and also handles matters from a secondary office when needed. She maintains ties to the broader legal community through the DuPage County Bar Association and other local organizations, balancing firm responsibilities with civic involvement.

She remains active in the Chicago Legal Clinic Auxiliary Board and continues to take part in clinic events and initiatives. Baldwin handles divorce and related family-law matters in Illinois.
