About Kiara

Kiara Swinton built her academic foundation around law and policy. She earned a B.A. from the University of Virginia in 2013, studying political philosophy, policy and law. She continued her education at Michigan State University College of Law, where she completed a J.D. in 2016 and pursued coursework in litigation.

Her law school years emphasized the mechanics of dispute resolution. Records show a litigation concentration, and that background informs how she approaches cases. The classroom and case study work reinforced an interest in advocacy and procedural strategy. Those elements later shaped her transition into private practice.

Swinton practices in Virginia. She is a current member of the Northern Virginia Black Lawyers Association, an organization that provides networking and professional development opportunities for lawyers in the region. Over time she established a solo practice under the name Law Office of K. S. Swinton, PLLC. That move allowed her to set the tone for client communication and case management on her own terms.

Her work reflects the skills associated with litigators: attention to pleadings and deadlines, preparation for hearings, and a preference for resolving disputes through both contested proceedings and negotiated settlements when appropriate. She pays particular attention to the procedural aspects of litigation and the preparation that trial work requires. In the office, files often move between drafting, motion practice, and settlement discussions depending on what each matter demands.

Colleagues describe her as deliberate in courtroom preparation and straightforward in client conversations. Her participation in local bar activities and membership in the Northern Virginia Black Lawyers Association connect her to peers who practice across Virginia. She maintains an active presence in the community of lawyers who handle litigation and related tasks.

She currently practices through the Law Office of K. S. Swinton, PLLC, where her work centers on litigation in Virginia.
