About David Barr
David Barr Albo built a legal foundation in the classroom before he ever stood in a courtroom. He attended the University of Virginia, earning a Bachelor of Science in economics after studies that began in 1980 and concluded in 1984. He then went on to the University of Richmond School of Law, completing his legal education in 1988.
He moved into public service early in his professional life. In 1990 he served as a prosecutor for the City of Fairfax, gaining hands-on experience in trial work and case preparation. That role offered regular courtroom time and exposure to the practical pressures of local criminal justice work.
Public office followed. In 1993 he was elected to the Virginia House of Delegates. During his time in the legislature he took on judicial policy through the House Courts of Justice Committee, eventually serving as its chairman. Those years placed him at the intersection of state lawmaking and judicial oversight. He handled committee responsibilities that required both legal analysis and the ability to manage complex legislative processes.
Albo’s bar credentials reflect his mix of trial and appellate capability. He was admitted to the Virginia bar in 1988 and maintains membership in the Virginia State Bar. He is also licensed to appear before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. His professional affiliations have kept him engaged with the administrative and ethical dimensions of the profession.
Colleagues describe a practitioner who moves between courtroom practice and legislative work with ease. He has practical prosecutorial experience, a lengthy record in state government, and familiarity with appellate procedure in the Fourth Circuit. Those strands inform how he evaluates cases and advises clients. He brings an understanding of how laws are shaped and how they are applied by judges and juries.
He currently practices law in Virginia, focusing on matters that draw on his background in prosecution, state legislative process, and litigation at both trial and appellate levels.
