About Kevin
Kevin Lonergan began a path that combined military discipline and legal training. He graduated from the United States Air Force Academy with a B.S. in 1976 and earned his J.D. from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 1979. Those formative years set the stage for a long career in litigation and court service.
After law school Lonergan joined the private bar and rose to partner and shareholder at Herrling Clark. He practiced across multiple office locations, including Appleton, Green Bay and Oshkosh. Over decades at the firm he became known among peers for courtroom work and for steady involvement in bar and trial organizations.
Trial practice has been a recurring theme in his career. He holds memberships in the National Board of Trial Advocacy and the American Board of Trial Advocates. He also belongs to the American Association for Justice and the National Trial Lawyers Association. Those associations align with a practice that regularly handles contested civil matters and trial preparation.
Lonergan has taken on leadership roles in professional groups. He served as president and first vice president on the Wisconsin Law Foundation Board of Directors. He chaired the State Bar of Wisconsin Public Education Committee and led the State Bar Litigation Section after earlier service as secretary and treasurer of that section’s board. He also held multiple offices in the Wisconsin Academy of Trial Lawyers, including terms as president, vice president, secretary and treasurer, and he is a long-time board member there. Locally, he served as president of the Outagamie County Bar Association and has maintained sustained involvement with that group.
Office and court service run in parallel for Lonergan. Since 1988 he has been a part-time court commissioner for Outagamie County, a role that keeps him regularly engaged with the local judiciary. In 2014 he chaired the executive committee for the National High School Mock Trial Competition, overseeing the program during that year’s national event.
Throughout his career he has combined firm work, bar leadership and occasional judicial duties. He remains a partner at Herrling Clark, practicing out of the firm’s Appleton, Green Bay and Oshkosh offices, and continues to concentrate on civil litigation and trial matters while serving part time as an Outagamie County court commissioner.
