Kevin Eugene Rex is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in the State of California. He was admitted to the California State Bar in 1996. His license is currently in active status. Mr. Rex is a shareholder at Lewitt Hackman Shapiro Marshall & Harlan, a law firm located in Encino, California. He has been practicing law for over 20 years, serving clients throughout California and beyond.
Mr. Rex earned his Juris Doctor degree from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles, graduating in 1996. Prior to law school, he completed his undergraduate education at the University of California, Los Angeles, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science, cum laude, in 1993. During his time at UCLA, he was on the Dean’s List, reflecting his academic excellence.
Mr. Rex concentrates his practice in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, corporate law, and real estate. He represents high net worth individuals, entrepreneurs, corporate executives, privately held businesses, family-owned businesses, and mid-market companies across various industries. His practice encompasses all stages of complex transactions, including structuring, negotiating, and drafting documentation related to mergers and acquisitions, buying and selling businesses, joint ventures, and other business arrangements. He also advises clients on shareholder, member, or partner buy-ins and buy-outs, as well as employment or consulting agreements related thereto.
Throughout his career, Mr. Rex has handled transactions ranging from a few hundred thousand dollars to over a hundred million dollars, both nationally and internationally. He has been recognized for his legal abilities and ethics, receiving an AV Preeminent Peer Review Rating of 5.0 from Martindale-Hubbell, the highest rating awarded by peers of the bar and judiciary. He has also been named a Rising Star by Los Angeles Magazine's Super Lawyer Edition from 2005-2008 and in 2010-2011. Additionally, the San Fernando Valley Business Journal recognized him as one of the Valley's Most Trusted Advisors and included him in their Top 40 Under 40 professionals to watch.
Mr. Rex is an active member of several professional organizations, including the State Bar of California, the San Fernando Valley Bar Association, the Los Angeles County Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and Provisors. He served as a Member of the Board of Trustees of the San Fernando Valley Bar Association for four years, as the Chairman of the Barrister's Section of the SFVBA for three years, and as Chair of the Membership and Marketing Committee of the SFVBA for two years. He has been a member of Provisors since June 2006 and has served on the executive committees of both the Encino II and Westlake I groups of Provisors. For several years, Mr. Rex was also a Member of the Board of Directors of the Valley Community Legal Foundation of the SFVBA, where he served multiple years on the Fundraising Committee and as the Chairman of Sponsorships for the annual Law Day Gala. Currently, he is a member of the Alliance of Mergers & Acquisitions Advisors, a premier international organization servicing the needs of M&A advisors in the middle market.
