About Kent
Kent Leier earned his bachelor's degree in political science and government from the University of North Dakota in 2001. He went on to complete his J.D. at the University of Montana School of Law in 2005. Those years grounded him in public law and the practical side of legal work.
He began his career at Colorado Legal Services in 2005. That role exposed him to a wide range of civil issues and client needs. In 2007 he moved into public prosecution work, serving as a deputy district lawyer in the Weld County District Lawyer's Office. The experience gave him courtroom time and familiarity with criminal casework. In 2013 he opened The Leier Law Office, LLC and shifted his practice into private representation.
Leier is licensed in Colorado and Montana. He is admitted to the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado and to the Tenth Circuit. Those admissions allow him to handle matters in both state and federal venues. Over the years he has appeared in a variety of forums, from county courthouses to federal dockets.
His work history spans civil legal aid and criminal prosecution. That combination informs how he approaches cases. Having worked at Colorado Legal Services, he understands civil litigation and client advocacy in noncriminal matters. His time at the Weld County office provided direct experience in criminal proceedings and courtroom practice. His memberships reflect those interests: Colorado Bar Association (since 2005), Colorado Criminal Defense Bar (since 2013), Denver Bar Association, Larimer County Bar Association and Montana Bar Association.
At The Leier Law Office, LLC he represents individuals in both criminal and civil matters across Colorado and in federal court when needed. He handles case preparation, litigation, and courtroom advocacy. Colleagues and clients describe him as methodical in preparing files and steady in court. He maintains active bar memberships and practices in jurisdictions that include Colorado, Montana, the U.S. District Court for Colorado and the Tenth Circuit. He currently concentrates his practice on criminal defense and related litigation in state and federal courts.
