About Matthew
Matthew Haltzman built his legal foundation at Louisiana State University. He finished a bachelor’s degree in history and political science in 2010. He then earned both a Juris Doctor and a Bachelor of Comparative Law from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center in 2014.
After law school he moved quickly into court work. Early in 2014 he served as a law clerk to Federal Magistrate Judge Richard Bourgeois in the U.S. District Courts. That same period included roles with the Department of Justice: a capital crimes unit law clerk in 2012 and work as an SLIP prosecuting lawyer in 2013. Those positions exposed him to both trial-level practice and federal procedural work.
Haltzman then joined private practice. He worked at Falen Law Offices in 2014 before taking a position at Ring & Associates, P.C., in 2015. In 2019 he opened Haltzman Law Office. The move to start his own firm followed several years of mixed government and private experience.
His admissions cover a wide geographic and federal span. He holds licenses in Colorado, Wyoming and Alaska, and he is admitted in several federal venues including the U.S. District Courts for Alaska, Wyoming and Colorado, the 10th Circuit and the Federal Circuit. That mix allows him to handle matters in state courts and a range of federal tribunals.
Haltzman has a court-recognized certification as a qualified expert in the Code of Federal Regulations and Social Security law from the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado. He also belongs to a number of professional groups: state bar associations in Colorado and Wyoming, the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association, the Wyoming Trial Lawyers Association, the Colorado Criminal Defense Bar, the Larimer and Denver bar associations, the American Bar Association and The Ewing T. Kerr American Inn of Court. He is listed as a Fellow of the National Association of Distinguished Counsel.
Colleagues describe his background as one that blends federal court experience, prosecutorial and defense-side exposure, and private litigation. He has handled matters that cross regulatory and criminal lines and has argued in federal venues. His practice has involved both courtroom work and preparation of administrative and regulatory filings.
He maintains his office under the name Haltzman Law Office. He currently concentrates his practice on federal and state litigation, including Social Security and related regulatory matters.
