About Kelisen
Kelisen Binder earned a Bachelor of Science in Public Administration from Evangel University in 2010 and a Juris Doctor from the University of Missouri 6 Columbia in 2013. She moved from the classroom of law school into the practical work of courts and firms. Her academic path gave her a grounding in procedure and public service that appears in her later career choices.
After law school she joined Boggs, Avellino, Lach & Boggs as an associate lawyer in 2013. Two years later she took a position as a law clerk at Jackson County Circuit Court, Division 29, where she observed daily courtroom practice and judicial decision-making. That clerkship fed into a return to firm practice: in 2017 she became an associate at Dana Outlaw Law Office.
In 2018 Binder9s rE9sumE9 shows two concurrent roles. She joined The Binder Firm as a lawyer and also worked as a teacher and coach for MARCH Mediation. The combination is telling. She maintained courtroom experience while developing practical skills in dispute resolution and client education. Her time at different kinds of legal workplaces 6 boutique firms, a circuit court clerkship and a mediation organization 6 gave her a range of perspectives on how cases move from negotiation to resolution.
Binder holds formal credentials in mediation through MARCH and is a Collaborative Divorce Professional recognized by the International Association of Collaborative Professionals (IACP). Those certifications reflect a practice that emphasizes negotiated settlements and structured alternatives to litigation. She has belonged to professional groups that mirror that interest. Her memberships include the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association since 2016 and the Association of Women Lawyers since 2017. In 2022 she joined both the International Association of Collaborative Professionals and the Collaborative Divorce Practice Kansas City.
Colleagues describe her work as centered on resolving disputes outside of protracted court battles. Her background includes traditional firm work and direct involvement in mediation training and collaborative practice. She is admitted to practice in both Kansas and Missouri, which lets her handle matters that cross state lines in the region.
She practices at The Binder Firm, handling collaborative divorce and mediation matters.
