About Javier

Javier Centonzio has built a career at the intersection of veterans law and elder law. He studied political science and legal studies as an undergraduate before moving into law school. The trajectory is straight and deliberate: a bachelor’s degree, a J.D., and then an LL.M. in elder law.

He earned a B.S. from Park University in 2009. He completed a J.D. at Stetson University College of Law in 2012 and returned to Stetson for an LL.M. in Elder Law, conferred in 2014. Those credentials shaped the practical work he would later pursue.

Early in his legal career he served as a judicial law clerk to the Hon. Robert N. Davis at the United States Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims in 2012. After that clerkship he entered private practice in 2013. He became a partner at Weylie Centonzio, PLLC in 2015 and in 2018 he helped found Centonzio Law, PLLC.

His bar admissions span four jurisdictions: Missouri, the District of Columbia, Florida and Kansas. He is an accredited lawyer with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, which allows him to represent veterans in VA benefit matters. He also holds memberships in multiple bar associations, including the District of Columbia Bar since 2019. In 2023 he took on a teaching role as an adjunct professor at the University of Missouri–Kansas City School of Law.

Practically, his work involves veterans benefits claims and issues that commonly arise for older adults. That includes claims before the Veterans Benefits Administration and counseling on matters that intertwine with elder law. The LL.M. in elder law informs how his practice approaches benefit eligibility, long-term care planning and related legal considerations for clients as they age.

Colleagues and clients see a lawyer who moves easily between courtroom filings and client meetings. He draws on appellate experience from his clerkship and on the procedural knowledge required for VA appeals. At Centonzio Law, PLLC he manages cases for veterans and older clients across multiple states, often combining advocacy before administrative agencies with planning work aimed at securing benefits and care.

He continues to practice at Centonzio Law, PLLC, where his current practice focuses on veterans benefits and elder law matters.
