About Kee Bong

Kee Bong Kim studied history at Yale University, earning his B.A. in 1995. He later turned to the law and received a J.D. from Franklin Pierce Law Center in 2004. Those two degrees frame a professional path that balances close reading of complex texts with a habit of placing facts in historical context.

After law school, Kim entered private practice. His experience includes work at Fenwick & West LLP, where he handled matters for clients in a range of commercial settings. Colleagues describe him as methodical in preparing legal materials and direct in client communications. He has practiced in California and built his practice around the demands of that market.

Kim’s education and early career together shaped how he approaches legal problems. His undergraduate training in history taught him to trace threads through long narratives. His legal training added the tools lawyers use: statutory analysis, written advocacy and negotiation. He applies those tools to casework and transactional matters, taking an orderly approach to fact development and legal research.

In firm settings, Kim has been responsible for drafting pleadings, advising on regulatory questions and participating in negotiations. He has worked with teams on matters that required coordination across disciplines. Those assignments called for clear writing and careful attention to process—skills he developed in law school and refined in practice.

Outside the demands of particular matters, Kim has kept ties to legal education through continuing legal training and firm-led mentoring programs. He has taken part in programs designed to help newer lawyers understand courtroom procedure and client handling. Those teaching roles reflect a pattern: he moves between hands-on legal work and efforts to clarify practice for others.

Today Kim practices law in California and is associated with Fenwick & West LLP. He maintains a practice that emphasizes careful preparation and clear communication on behalf of clients, and he continues to draw on both his history background and his legal training in handling client matters.
