About Katherine

Katherine Debski studied literature and language before turning to law. She earned a B.A. in English Literature and Spanish from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in 1999. She continued at the University of Michigan Law School and received her J.D. in 2002.

Her career took shape over the years that followed. In 2014 she became a partner at Bain Mazza & Debski LLP. That promotion marked a new phase in her professional life and placed her among the firm’s leadership.

Colleagues describe Debski as methodical and clear in her approach. She has navigated matters that require close attention to both legal detail and client objectives. Her work often involves drafting key documents, advising clients on strategy, and presenting arguments where warranted. She tends to combine careful preparation with concise advocacy.

Outside of casework, Debski has been active in professional circles. She holds current memberships in professional associations, where she engages with peers and follows developments in the law. Those connections keep her attuned to changes in rules and practice that affect clients and other lawyers alike.

Clients and co-counsel find her readable and direct. She favors explanation over jargon, and she aims to set clear expectations from the outset. That practical bent shows up in daily practice, whether in negotiating terms, managing files, or preparing for hearings.

Her path reflects both a grounding in the humanities and a specialized legal education. The combination has informed how she frames legal questions and communicates options. It also influences how she mentors junior attorneys in the firm, urging clarity of thought and plainspoken writing.

Outside the office she remains connected to the university community that educated her. She follows developments in literature and language, and she brings that perspective back to legal writing and client communications. Her colleagues say that this background helps when crafting persuasive briefs and explaining complex concepts to nonlawyers.

Today she continues at Bain Mazza & Debski LLP. Her practice is centered at the firm, where she handles matters aligned with the firm’s core practice areas and represents clients in a range of legal proceedings.
