About Ilya D.

Ilya D. Frangos built a legal path that began in the classroom and continued into courtrooms and military service. He earned a B.A. in Rhetoric from the University of California, Berkeley in 2005 and completed his J.D. at the University of California College of the Law, San Francisco in 2008. Those years laid the groundwork for a career that has moved between public service and private practice.

His early years after law school included a series of clerkships at county district attorney offices. He worked as a law clerk for the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office in 2006 and the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office in 2007. After graduating, he served as a post-bar law clerk at the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office in 2008 before entering private practice the following year at the Law Offices of James D. Frangos.

By 2010 he became a partner at Law Offices of Galine, Frye, Fitting & Frangos, LLP. That move anchored him in private litigation and firm leadership. Alongside his firm responsibilities he kept ties to public service and education. He served as a Captain and JAG officer in the California State Military Reserve, a role that combined legal duties with military structure. He also took on teaching roles, from leading classes at Holy Cross Greek School in 2002 to joining the faculty as an adjunct professor at Skyline College in 2017.

Frangos has maintained active ties to the local legal community. He is a co-founder of the Veteran Lawyers of San Mateo County and holds memberships in the San Mateo County Bar Association, the San Mateo Trial Lawyers Association, the Consumer Attorneys of California, and the State Bar of California. Those affiliations reflect a practice that engages with trial work, consumer issues, and county-level legal networks.

Across public and private roles, his background shows experience in prosecution-side environments and in firm-based litigation. The district attorney clerkships exposed him to criminal and public-sector procedures. His time in private practice and as a partner has involved litigating matters that reach trial and settlement stages.

He practices law in California and remains active in local bar groups and veteran lawyer initiatives. He currently practices at Law Offices of Galine, Frye, Fitting & Frangos, LLP, where he concentrates in civil litigation, including consumer and trial matters.
